Audition requirements

Prepared pieces: Perform one or two pieces of your choice. There is no time requirement, but auditionees will be stopped at roughly 5 minutes. Pieces can be from any time period. Please read more about the expected level of repertoire of the ACG Youth Camerata and ACG Youth Orchestra and choose what is most appropriate for you.

Scale: A one or two-octave G major scale with i and m alternation.

Prepared Excerpt: An excerpt which will be sent to all auditionees in advance. The performance of the excerpt must include all fingerings and dynamics at the set tempo.

Sight reading: A short sight reading excerpt will be provided during your audition. The excerpt will be in first position with simple rhythms. Students will be given one full minute to look over the excerpt and perform the rhythm, melodic, and dynamic material to the best of their ability.
