Matching Gifts

Make your gift to ACG go even further! Many employers will match charitable contributions made by their employees, often doubling the initial gift. Check with your HR Department to find out if they offer this benefit.

If we should be expecting a matching gift from your employer we’d love to hear about it! Please email us at matchinggifts@austinclassicalguitar.org to let us know.

The Austin Classical Guitar Endowment Fund

We established the ACG Endowment Fund at the Austin Community Foundation in 2015 to support ACG’s vision of serving our community long into the future.

Donations made to the fund are invested in order to generate revenue for ACG year after year.

Depending on your philanthropic passions, you can specify how you would like your endowment gift to be used. ACG has a wide range of naming opportunities as well. Email us or call (512) 300-2247 to learn more.

Gift & Estate Planning: The Legacy Circle

We are profoundly grateful for the trust and belief of dear friends who choose to include Austin Classical Guitar as part of their estate or other long-term financial plans. Our Legacy Circle was created to honor these individuals and their deep commitment to ACG and its future.

Below are some of the ways you can support ACG through a planned gift. There are other creative options available. Please get in touch with any questions, and if you have already designated ACG as a beneficiary of your estate, we would love to hear about it so we can recognize your support and include you in Legacy Circle events.

Email James or call (512) 300-2247.
For your reference, ACG’s Tax ID is 74-2595883

Wills and Living Trusts

The most popular planned gift is a bequest made through a Will or Living Trust. Bequests are usually a set dollar amount or a percentage of an estate that is given to the nonprofit upon the donor’s passing. You can include a bequest to ACG in a new will or living trust, or add it to an existing one through a simple amendment called a “codicil.” Charitable gifts must be made from your estate or living trust with specific language. Here is the suggested bequest language for a gift of a specific amount, or percentage, of your estate:

“I give, devise, and bequeath to AUSTIN CLASSICAL GUITAR, or its successor in interest, $ ____ (or ___ % of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate).”

Gifts of Stock

Donating appreciated shares of stock benefits you and ACG! You will receive an income tax deduction equal to the full market value of the stock at the time of transfer, and avoid paying capital gains taxes on any increase in the stock’s value since you bought it. Interested? We invite you or your broker to contact us for transfer instructions or any questions.

Retirement Accounts, Life Insurance & Annuities

You can choose to designate ACG as a beneficiary of all or a portion of your Life Insurance policy or your IRA, 401K, or other retirement plan. These assets do not flow through your Will or Living Trust; the proceeds go directly to ACG, and are exempt from estate taxes.

  • Retirement accounts are tax-deferred; taxes are not due until the money is withdrawn.
  • Annuities work in a similar fashion.
  • Life Insurance is income tax free.

All of these may also be subject to estate taxes if your estate qualifies.

None of these assets flow through your Will or Living Trust, they go directly to your beneficiary.

Here’s how to name us as a beneficiary if you choose to:

Primary Beneficiary:    AUSTIN CLASSICAL GUITAR (__%)

or

Contingent Beneficiary: AUSTIN CLASSICAL GUITAR (__%)

Gifts from Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)

If you are 73 or older (75 beginning in 2033), you are required to take distributions from your IRA each year. These funds are normally taxable, but through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (also known as IRA Rollovers), you can donate all or part of your required distribution to charity, up to $100,000 annually in 2023 (or $200,000 for a married couple), and pay no taxes. Beginning in 2024, the $100,000 limit will be indexed for inflation, so if you’re inclined, you may be able to contribute more in the future.

Bank and Investment Accounts

It is also possible to transfer the assets from your bank, credit union and regular (Non-IRA) accounts. You can do this by putting a POD (Payable on Death) or TOD (Transfer on Death) designation on those accounts to Austin Classical Guitar. Your financial institution will be able to assist with this.

Gift of Real Estate

With a gift of real estate to ACG you can further our mission while removing a significant tax burden from your estate. You can even donate your house to us now and continue living there, while receiving the benefits of a large income tax deduction and no capital gains tax due on the transfer.

Before you begin the process of donating real estate, please contact us to make sure we will be able to accept your generous gift.

Gift Annuities and Charitable Trusts

A Charitable Gift Annuity is a way to make a donation to ACG at your passing, receive a lifetime of income and get an income tax deduction. There are also special trusts called a Charitable Remainder Trust which works much like a Gift Annuity but is more suitable for larger gifts.
