Expect the unexpected in our Play series! Grab a tasty drink, sit back, and hear Austin-area artists unleash their creativity in a chill atmosphere. With shows at Captain Quackenbush’s Coffeehouse in south Austin and The Rosette in Hyde Park, Play is a great way to spend an evening.

All Play events are open seating, with doors opening at 7, and shows starting at 7:30. Table reservations are available for shows at The Rosette.

We are committed to keeping our in-person events safe and enjoyable for everyone. Please see our COVID Protocols for details of our stage-based accommodations.

JAVIER JARA & Friends

This event has passed.

Our originally scheduled artist, Azul Barrientos, has had to cancel her performances this week. We are thrilled that soulful Ecuadorian singer-songwriter Javier Jara, will be able to step in and share his artistry with his friends Felipe “El Tiburón” Borrero (multi-instrumentalist) and Alexey Montero (percussionist). Join us for a colorful and passionate evening of Latin folk and roots music.

Sponsored in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts

TALE OF THE FOX with Invoke

This event has passed.

The Tale of the Fox is one of the first fully animated feature films ever made. Through visually stunning stop-motion animation, a cast of animal puppets tells the story of Renard, a mischievous prankster, and his attempts to outwit the king (a lion!).

Invoke, the genre-defying, globe-trotting string quartet and Austin fan favorite, brought along their mandolin and banjo to perform a rompin’ original score for this 1937 classic!
