Vessel Praise by Adrian Landon Brooks

ACG’s Artist in Residence, Clarice Assad, is a Grammy- nominated composer, pianist and vocalist from Rio de Janeiro. Her music joyfully embraces improvisation and complexity, and she freely moves between classical, jazz, world music, and pop styles. She has collaborated with some of the world’s most prominent artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin, Evelyn Glennie, and Paquito D’Rivera, and her music can be heard in concert halls and clubs everywhere.

Joining Clarice tonight is her father, the legendary Brazilian guitarist, composer, and arranger Sérgio Assad. Since the 1980’s, Sérgio, along with his brother Odair, have redefined the genre of guitar duo as the Duo Assad. Sérgio is one of the most widely performed guitar composers/arrangers of his generation, and his work has been celebrated for its boundless and prolific creativity.
