The Unknown

Friday, June 22nd, 2012 at 7:30pm, Screening at 9pm
AMOA-Arthouse, Laguna Gloria (3809 W. 35th Street)
Tickets $50 ($45 ACGS/AMOA-Arthouse members)
Food and Wine Included

We team up again with the creative geniuses at the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow and AMOA-Arthouse to present the 1929 silent masterpiece “The Unknown” starring Lon Chaney Sr. and Joan Crawford. It’s dark, bizarre, and brilliant. We’ve commissioned European-based ultra-inventive duo Les Freres Meduses to compose an original film score for two guitars and violin. They’ll perform it live with virtuoso violinist Sandy Yamamoto (formerly of Miró Quartet fame!).

Lon Chaney Sr. plays a circus knife thrower in a circus in Northern Spain (he throws knives with his feet – and plays guitar too…)! We’ll show the movie near the water on the gorgeous grounds of Laguna Gloria with food conceived by the Alamo’s Executive Chef John Bullington, wine selected by beverage guru Bill Norris, and live pre-show circus performers! Alamo co-founder and CEO Tim League, Senior Programmer Lars Nilsen, and ACGS’ Matt Hinsley will talk movies and music before the show begins.
